Internet moving towards mobile applications

9th November 2009

By 2011, recent research indicates the internet will be accessed from mobile points more than any other connection.

  • mobileSQUARED forecasts the total number of mobile Internet users in the UK to top 32 million by 2014 – 48% penetration of total mobile users.

The latest mobiles, smart phones, make it easy to access the internet and to download applications that provide new ways of interacting on the web.

The Opera Mini browser was the most popular application to be downloaded from the GetJar in August with over 25 million downloads.

Opera reported that almost 29.1 million people used the application in July 2009 and viewed more than 12 billion pages.

This is an increase of 9.9 per cent from the previous month and over 145 per cent compared with the previous year.ADNFCR-2036-ID-19331948-ADNFCR
